To those who are unsure of what the Golden Plate Awards are exactly, here is a quick rundown. Through the Georgia Strait publication, readers take part in a survey where they vote online and give their opinion about where the best places to wine and dine are in Vancouver and parts of the lower mainland including Richmond. And not surprisingly two of Steveston favorite restaurants took home first and second place honours. Blue Canoe was a very respectable second, and Vince Morlet’s Tapenade Bistro won the honour.

Tapenade is a Mediterranean inspired bistro that honours French tradition dishes with an updated vibe of west coast features. The philosophy behind the restaurant is “to showcase the natural beauty of local, sustainable and seasonal ingredients in an appropriate and sumptuous manner”. With a large patio that seats 70 guests Tapenade is a great place to host an event or just enjoy an amazing meal over looking the river. Excellent service and knowledge of the cuisine is always apparent at Tapenade and the deliciously unique dishes is what guests continuously come back for. If you have yet to try Tapenade Bistro it is a MUST! With the well deserved acknowledgement by the Golden Plate Awards you know you want to get there fast.

Now that Spring is officially here Steveston’s restaurant patio’s are bound to be filling up fast!
